History

Samuel Moti was a medical imaging equipment salesman and service
provider in Northern Ohio and Michigan, and was also a service engineer for Westinghouse X-Ray. After developing many strong relationships within the radiology community in the Detroit area, Sam established City X-Ray in 1969. He later changed the company name to The MEI Healthcare Group, continuing his focus on the sale and service of medical imaging equipment. The company later expanded to include diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy equipment sales, project financing and turn-key development of imaging centers.

Gordon Baltzer joined MEI in 1995, and has worked with Sam to continue MEI’s growth in imaging center development, management and investment in various healthcare industry ventures. From 1996 to 2003, MEI operations were primarily focused on the development and expansion of River Oaks Imaging and Diagnostics, which became a dominant outpatient imaging service provider in the Houston, Texas marketplace. The MEI management group decided to marshal their operational experience and perspective and advance as “turn-key” developers and consultants for physician and investor groups desiring to build outpatient imaging centers or add imaging services to their practices. MEI recognized that financing was a key component and often a stumbling block in completing projects in an efficient and timely manner. To better manage this segment, MEI established MEI Financial Services, LLC to provide financing tailored solely to the healthcare industry, and the projects undertaken by the MEI group.

In 1997, The MEI Healthcare Group opened its corporate office in Coral Springs, Florida, with satellite offices in Michigan, Texas and Indiana.
